you will Once you have moved in you will need to sort out the practicalities of living in an unknown environment but there is no need to worry there are lots of locals about who can advise you. For instance you may have to collect your post from the local post office or local bar, it may feel strange at first but you soon get used to it. If you are lucky it could be delivered to your post box, it depends in what area and this can change at anytime as well.

One of your first bills will be from DEH(dayee) the electricity supplier and this happens every 2 months with a meter reading every 4 months. On this bill is also your tv licence fee and council tax which here in Crete is very small.       

There is no rubbish collection from outside your house, you will have to take your rubbish to one of the many bins that are along most roads, any bin will do and they are often emptied every other day in summer.       

Most of the large supermarkets are open 8am to 9pm six days a week but are closed Sundays. There is a market in Chania 4 days a week which moves around the city and is excellent for fresh vegetables and fruit.
